The Course Inauguration
Ceremony of the 4th Batch of BSc Nursing, 2nd Batch of BSc
Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology and Medical Imaging Technology was
held on 03/10/2025 at Father Muller Nursing College, Thumbay, marking the
beginning of a new chapter for aspiring healthcare professionals.
The event commenced
with a procession led by the College Band, setting a dignified and ceremonial
tone for the day.
A soulful invocation of
God’s blessings was rendered by the Second Semester nursing students.
The gathering was
warmly welcomed by the Administrator Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, offering
words of encouragement that echoed the values and vision of the Father Muller
Charitable Institutions.
The course was formally
inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest, Rev.
Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Former Director FMCI, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director FMCI,
Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator FMNCT & FMAHST, Professor
Janet Sequeira, Vice Principal FMNCT, Dr. Shivashankar A R, Principal FMAHST, Dr
Kiran Shetty, Medical superintendent, FMHT, and student representatives.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, delivered an inspiring inaugural address emphasizing that nurses are the heartbeat of healthcare, playing an indispensable role in the well-being of patients and the overall functioning of the healthcare system. Highlighting the importance of effective communication, the address noted that offering words of concern and encouragement can bring immense comfort to patients and support their healing process. He also drew inspiration from Mother Teresa, urging nurses to remain service-oriented and compassionate in their duties, embodying the true spirit of care and selflessness in their profession.
The director in his presidential
address highlighted the three essential pillars of nursing education:
knowledge, skills, and values/attitudes. Emphasizing the noble nature of the
profession, he described a good nurse as Noble, Understanding, Responsible,
Empathetic, and Efficient. Drawing inspiration from Florence Nightingale, he
elaborated that students should uphold the values of commitment, empathy,
honesty, and sincerity - virtues that transform nursing into a true service to
humanity.
The formal proceedings
concluded with a gracious Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shivashankar A R, expressing
gratitude for the success of the programme. Mrs. Nisha Sylvia Lobo efficiently
facilitated the smooth and orderly conduct of the programme.
A
Parent-Teacher-Student orientation was organized for the freshers and their parents,
aimed to prepare the students to commence their academic journey towards becoming
competent healthcare professionals.
The program was concluded with the National Anthem followed by lunch
