Guest Lecture by Dr RenuVerma

A guest lecture was organised by the department of Microbiology, FMMC on 12-07-2025 in the medical college A block from 11AM to 12PM.

Dr.Anup Kumar Shetty, Professor and Head of the department of Microbiology welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr RenuVerma PhD,Faculty Scientist and DBT Ramalingaswami Fellow at the Institute of Bioinformatics (IOB) in Bangalore, India. She also serves as an adjunct Faculty at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). She spoke on the topic, “Development of a targeted Nanopore sequencing panel to personalize tuberculosis treatment and culture free detection of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis”.

She spoke on the recent advances and new technologies on pharamacogenomicsin early detection of drug resistant tuberculosis and drug metabolism patterns of anti-tubercular drugs. She highlighted about the ongoing collaborative researches with various premier Indian and international institutes. The postgraduate students were also benefitted as the talk highlighted the benefits of pursuing future career in this field.

The talk concluded with questionnaire and vote of thanks proposed by Dr.Anup.
