The Department of General Medicine, Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, in association with PRAYAS (Podiatric Reach Across India for Awareness and Screening), conducted a one-day diabetic foot screening camp for patients with diabetes mellitus.
PRAYAS is a nationwide initiative dedicated to preventing diabetes-related amputations through awareness, screening, policy advocacy, and clinical engagement.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by Dr. Mrudula and Dr. Madhura, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Srilakshmi M. Prabhu. Dr. Adarsh Joseph served as the master of ceremonies for the inaugural function.
The distinguished dignitaries present for the inauguration included Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director; Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequera, Administrator, FMMCH; Dr. Kishan Shetty, Deputy Medical Superintendent; and Dr. Smitha Bhat, Head of the Department of General Medicine
The camp was officially inaugurated by The Director on the laptop as well as by cutting the ribbon on the mobile van of the PRAYAS team .
A total of twenty five patients were screened during the camp from 9. 30 am to 5.30 pm. All the patients were screened in detail for vascularity, neurologically and ankle brachial index by the team members Mr. Bharath project manager . All the patients were given a detailed report which was AI integrated .
The patients who had abnormalities on screening were referred to surgery OPD for podiatrist opinion and advise. All the patients were given pamphlets in English and Kannada that had all the details of foot care in diabetic patients.
