DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

OVERVIEW

M.Sc Clinical Psychology course commenced on 2 nd October 2022, under Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

This postgraduate program will provide the students with the needed skills for a career in academia, research, and clinical practice. This program is one of its kind as it runs in a multispecialty hospital with a psychiatry department, child guidance clinic, daycare centre, research centre, rehabilitation unit, community health outreach programs and deaddiction facilities which would provide the students with wide clinical exposure in these fields.

The 2-year full-time course would be taught by experienced Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Lecturers, and Biostatisticians on campus making their academics enriching. Students would be posted in the Psychiatric Outpatient Department as well as the Psychiatric Inpatient Department for observership with psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, and Psychiatric Social Workers thereby providing an opportunity to learn biopsychosocial management of people with various mental health issues.

During the course, students would also undergo extensive training in various psychological assessments, psychotherapeutic techniques and report writing. Students will be encouraged to develop an independent line of research under the supervision of our primary faculty and research experts.

The number of people with a mental health crisis is on the rise, and there is a paucity of trained mental health professionals all over the world. The M.Sc Clinical Psychology discipline provides a wide range of opportunities as this program acts as a tool for training mental health professionals who can work to promote mental health by working as counsellors in various settings like schools, universities, NGOs, and industries.
