Department of Radiation Oncology (B.Sc. RT)

OVERVIEW

The oncology center at Father Muller Medical College Hospital provides comprehensive oncological care round the clock with a human touch.

The department of Radiation Oncology is equipped with a medical linear accelerator with Latest Model of Ring Based Halcyon Linear Accelerator that is capable of providing conformal radiation therapy which includes 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT and IGRT treatment. It is also equipped with On board Imager with KVCBCT, KVCBCT, MVCT, KVCT that helps in tumor tracking and thus capable of delivering 100% Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT). It has FDA approved Eclipse version 17 treatment planning system that helps in creating the best possible plan to reduce toxicities to the patient.

The Brachytherapy facilities use high dose rate iridium-192 source.

We have experienced Radiation Oncologist, Medical Physicist and Radiotherapy Technologist.

All decisions regarding patient care are taken in a multidisciplinary tumor board including highly trained team of Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists as well as Surgical Oncologists.

The patients are also benefited by a team consisting of dieticians, physiotherapist, speech and rehabilitation specialists, clinical psychologist and medical social worker support during treatment and on follow up.

The B.Sc RTT course was started in the year 2012 and has a 100% final year pass percentage year after year with the students achieving many university ranks. The department provides 1year internship for students graduating with B.Sc Radiotherapy Technology (RTT).

We are committed to our hospital motto “Heal and Comfort”.
