The Research ignition day was organized on 9th March 2026 by Research forum of FMCOAHS . Research forum comprises of Research committee and Student research club.
The program began at 2:30pm, with a prayer song, setting a respectful and positive tone for the event.
Ms. Hana Jafar, president of student research club delivered the welcome address. The name of research Club “Synapse” was unveiled by the chief guest and other dignitaries on the dias. Ms Chethana Jyothish, student of second year Medical imaging technology who suggested the name , was awarded.
Dr. Soniya Edaline Dsouza, Convener of Research Committee presented the report of the Research Forum, outlining its activities and achievements in last one year. The program continued with the felicitation of the outgoing members of the Research Committee, which was conducted by the Administrator in recognition of their valuable contributions. The core members, research committee members, and advisors of the Research Club were officially declared. The list was read by the Principal, and the members were felicitated by the Administrator.
The Guest of Honour Dr Ramesh Bhat, head of Father Muller Research Centre delivered a message, sharing encouraging words on the importance of research in academic growth. The program also included the felicitation of students who received RGUHS grants in 2025 along with their guides. The list of awardees was read by Ms. Pratibha Kamble, and the felicitation was done by the Guest of Honour .
Further, the five best research proposals of students for 2026 were recognized. The names were announced by Dr. Gillaine Pinto, and the felicitation was carried out by the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest Dr Yashodhar Bhandary, Deputy Director of Yenepoya Research Centre, addressed the gathering, delivering an insightful message on the significance of research and innovation in the medical field. As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour by the Administrator.
The Administrator of FMCOAHS Rev Dr Michael Santhumayor delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the institution’s commitment to encouraging research activities among students. The formal proceedings concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Flenisia Coelho, secretary of Research Club.
This stage program was followed by a guest lecture by the chief guest on “Identifying topics for multidisciplinary research”.
The program was attended by faculty and students of FMCOAHS and it really ignited young minds to take up research with passion and dedication.
