The Optometry and Ophthalmology Departments at Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences organised a hands-on workshop on Scleral contact lenses in practice at the Audio-Visual Hall, Knowledge center, FMMC, and a fun and engaging Skit Competition for undergraduate Optometry students of FMCOAHS as part of World Optometry Week 2026.
Skit competition-19th March 2026
Skit competition was held on 19th March 2026, a total of 5 teams took part with great energy, bringing out creative and meaningful takes on eye care, awareness, and patient experiences. Participants of best two teams were awarded with a memento and a certificate.
The competition was judged by Dr Karan Kiran Giriyan from the Department of Hospital Administration and Dr Dane Chandy from the Department of Anatomy, who added great value with their insights.

Hands-on workshop on Scleral contact lenses held on 25th March 2026, A total number of 120 delegates attended the Guest Talk, followed by Hands-on session and Inaugural ceremony.
Along with this, Various workshops like, soft lens insertion Demonstration by Dr May Dsouza, Low vision Demonstration by, Mrs Prema Nishel Menezes, RGP contact lens fit Assessment by Ms Kavyashree Kotian was carried out to engage the students.
Mangala College of Allied Health Sciences, Yene Poya School of Allied Health Sciences, Nethra Jyothi College of Allied Health Sciences, and KVG Institute of Allied Health Sciences, along with Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences, participated as Delegates.
The program started with a guest talk by Mr Premjit Bhakat, Associate Professor in Optometry, Department of Ophthalmology, Goa Medical College. Followed by an inaugural and hands-on practical sessions
Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator, FMMC, FMCOAHS, FMCOP presided over the inaugural function. Dr. Antony Sylvan Dsouza, the dean of Father Muller Medical College, Dr. Shivashankara A R, Principal, AHS, were present during the inauguration.
Dr. May D’Souza, welcomed the delegates and Ms. Kavyashree Kotian proposed a vote of thanks. Ms. Kavya Lecturer from Optometry compered the programme.
The participating delegates gave the positive feedback for the entire program.
