Quality Tools and Real-World Skills: Guest lecture by Dr. Magesh Rangasamy

The Department of Hospital Administration at Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences hosted a guest lecture on “Quality Tools and Real-World Skills Every Future Hospital Administrator Must Master” on March 27, 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Magesh Rangasamy (MBBS, MBA-HA, PGDLME, FISQua), who shared valuable insights into the practical dimensions of healthcare quality management and administrative competencies.

The programme commenced with a warm introduction by Ms. Nisha Lasrado, 1st year MHA student. The session was highly engaging and focused on the significance of quality in healthcare delivery. Dr. Magesh elaborated on the seven essential quality tools, namely: Affinity Diagram (KJ Method), Interrelationship Diagram, Tree Diagram, Matrix Diagram, Prioritisation Matrix, Process Decision Program Chart (PDPC), and Activity Network Diagram.

In addition to technical tools, the lecture highlighted key real-world skills required for future hospital administrators. The speaker emphasised the need to adapt to challenges such as resource constraints, rising patient expectations, and rapidly evolving healthcare technologies.

Students actively participated in the session, gaining practical knowledge and meaningful insights into hospital administration. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Raghu, Final year MHA student.

Overall, the session provided a comprehensive understanding of quality tools and the critical skills required for effective hospital administration in modern healthcare settings.
