Fr Vinod Lobo, Chaplain FMHT graced the occasion, with Dr. Reena Wilma Frank serving as the  Chief Guest for the celebration.

The programme began with a prayer song led by the students from FMAHSCT invoking divine blessings. This was followed by the hoisting of the National Flag  by the Chief Guest, Dr. Reena Wilma Frank. In her address, the Chief Guest stated:

“This is not just a one-day festival; it is a symbol of our nation’s self-respect, a story of sacrifice, and a tribute to the millions who laid down their lives for freedom. On this day in 1947, our country attained independence after hundreds of years of British rule. Many brave fighters made the ultimate sacrifice to achieve this freedom. But freedom is not merely political—it is also freedom of thought, freedom of opinion, social responsibility, and the strength to uphold human values.

In this age of science, technology, and social media, we must ask ourselves—are we truly free? Sadly, our society still struggles with corruption, injustice, violence, environmental pollution, exploitation of women and children, and social discrimination. As nurses and doctors, we have a special role to play. By serving patients with dedication and compassion, we not only heal individuals but also contribute to building a healthier and more just society.” At the end, she wished everyone present a very Happy Independence Day and concluded her speech.

The students presented a patriotic song through a band performance, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.

The programme concluded with the distribution of sweets to the gathering. The event was  anchored by Ms. Pavithra B, Asst Lecturer, FMNCT.
