Father Muller Allied Health Sciences
College Thumbay and Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay organized a “Anti
Tobacco Day and Anti-Drug Awareness Programme” on 19th May 2026 at
3:30 PM in Florence Nightingale Hall, FMNCT. The programme was conducted with
the objective of creating awareness among students regarding the harmful
effects of tobacco consumption and substance abuse.
The programme was graced by the
dignitaries Rev. Fr. Rohan Michael Dias, Administrator; Dr. Paulina Anand,
Principal, FMAHSCT and Dr. Reena Wilma Frank, Principal, FMNCT.
The programme commenced with a prayer
seeking blessings for the successful conduct of the event. This was followed by
a warm welcome address. A poster unveiling ceremony was conducted to emphasize
the importance of tobacco cessation and drug-free living. The resource person
for the programme was Mr. Manjunath T, Police Sub Inspector, Bantwal Town
Police Station. He delivered an informative and impactful talk on the social,
and legal consequences of tobacco use and substance abuse. He also discussed
the increasing influence of drugs among youth and preventive strategies,
An oath-taking ceremony was conducted
where students pledged to stay away from tobacco and drugs and to actively
participate in creating awareness in the community.
The programme concluded with a vote of
thanks expressing gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty
members, and students for their valuable support and participation. The event
ended with the National Anthem. The programme was successful in sensitizing
students about the harmful effects of tobacco and drug abuse and encouraged
them to adopt healthy and responsible behaviors.
