A talk on International Women's Day at Father Muller Hospital Thumbay

On the occasion of "International
Women's Day" a talk was organized for female staff of Father Muller Hospital
Thumbay on Tuesday 8th march 2022 at 3.00pm in the Seminar Hall,
Basement. Dr. Saritha Lobo, Associate Professor Dept of Ophthalmology was the
resource person.
By addressing the gathering Dr. Sarita
Lobo spoke about the importance of women and their achievements in day today life.
The first women's day was came into existence in the year 1908 February 28 by the Socialist
Party of America in New York City. It was a
protest against a garment factory for ill-treating women employee.
Dr. Saritha
also explained the importance of women's day celebration. She also added that
women's day commemorates the achievements of women and their existence in
general. International women's day is a time to celebrate progress towards
gender equality and women's empowerment. It's a day to celebrate women's
outstanding achievements and to unite as a force to advance gender equality
throughout the world. Furthermore, society benefits when women are treated with
respect and are not treated as second class citizens. Women used to be limited
in their houses and were not allowed to leave the house for employment.
The theme for International Women's Day
2022 is, "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow".
At the end she gave a quote for the day is "Behind every successful woman is a tribe of
other successful women who have her back''
