REPORT ON WORLD PHARMACISTS’ DAY 2025 CELEBRATION

Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS) celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2025 with great fervor and enthusiasm on 25th September 2025 at the college auditorium. The event was organized to recognize and honour the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare and to align with the global observance initiated by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the Masters of Ceremony, Mrs Sudhina M and Ms Josline Ancito Lobo, Assistant Professors, FMCOPS highlighting the significance of the day and the chosen theme for the year, “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”, which emphasizes the indispensable role of pharmacists in promoting public health and ensuring patient safety.

The celebration began with a soulful Prayer Song by the II Semester B. Pharm students, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. This was followed by the invitation of dignitaries onto the dais, who were given a floral welcome as a mark of love and respect.

The formal function commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Satish S, Principal, FMCOPS, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty, students, and guests. This was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and wisdom.

The highlight of the event was the Chief Guest’s Address by Dr. Padmaja Udaykumar, an eminent academician and prolific author of 29 textbooks in Pharmacology. In her message, she inspired the students to embrace their professional responsibilities with commitment, emphasizing the evolving role of pharmacists in clinical and community settings. Her words encouraged budding pharmacists to align themselves with the values of competence, service, and compassion.

As part of the World Pharmacists Day 2025 celebrations, a series of competitions were organized to encourage creativity, teamwork, and to showcase the talents of students. Events included Rangoli, Essay Writing, Collage and Pencil Sketch, all of which reflected the theme “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”. Students actively participated in these activities with great enthusiasm, demonstrating their innovative ideas and professional knowledge.

The programme also included the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where students were recognized for their participation and excellence in various competitions held as part of the celebration. The awards were announced by Ms. Bhuvanashree, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy, and distributed by the dignitaries.

Following this, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI, delivered the Presidential Address, wherein he stressed the importance of ethical practice, continuous learning, and the pivotal role of pharmacists in bridging healthcare delivery. His address inspired students to view pharmacy as not just a profession, but a vocation of service.

As a token of gratitude, a Memento Presentation was made to the Chief Guest. Subsequently, Mrs. Fmith Celvia Miranda, Associate Professor, FMCOPS, proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to the management, dignitaries, faculty, staff, students, and all those who contributed to making the programme a success.

The event concluded with the Institutional Anthem, followed by refreshments arranged for the gathering.

The celebration of World Pharmacists’ Day 2025 at FMCOPS was not only a tribute to the profession but also an inspiration for the young pharmacists to uphold their commitment towards the health and well-being of society.
