The Inaugural ceremony of the Students' Council 2025-26 was held on May 21st 2025 at 2.45pm in Father Muller Auditorium, Deralakatte.
The programme commenced with a solemn procession featuring the outgoing and newly elected office bearers of the Students' Council, accompanied by student representatives. The blessings of the Almighty where implored through a melodies and meaningful prayer song rendered by Dr Gopika and team.
Dr Deepa Pais, Staff Advisor, Students' Council welcomed gathering and introduced the Chief Guest Dr Satish S, Principal, Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Deralakatte.
Principal Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran warmly welcomed the newly elected office bearers of the Students' Council. In a symbolic gesture, the outgoing President Mr Akhil Monteiro, handed over the college flag to the new President Mr Zeeshan Haveri marking the official transfer of leadership.
This was followed by the formal transfer of responsibilities to the newly elected office bearers by handing over badges and files: Ms Yazhini S as General Secretary, Ms Laura Anderse as Magazine Secretary, Mr Nikhil Jonathan. Samuel as Sports Secretary, Ms Ashwini K. V as Cultural Secretary, and Ms Chethana P. L. as Research Secretary. Miss Abhinaya Jogipeta was appointed Vice President, while Mr Shaik Nawaz assumed the role of Joint Secretary.
Principal then administered the oath of office to the new team, extending his heartfelt congratulations and wishing them success in all their future endeavours.
The Students' Council was formally inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, along with the newly elected President and General Secretary. The Director honoured the former office bearers and council members with mementos as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service.
Mr Akhil Monteiro, the Former President, Students council 2024-25, delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, expressing his gratitude for the wonderful opportunity to serve the college. Following this Mr Zeeshan Haveri, the newly elected President of the Students' Council 2025-26, delivered acceptance speech thanking everyone for their trust and outlining his vision and goals for the upcoming term.
Rev Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Designate Director FMCI & Administrator FMHMC&H in his message congratulated the newly elected members and wished them all the best as they shoulder a vital responsibility. On behalf of the management, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the former Students' Council, acknowledging the services rendered, leadership demonstrated, and initiatives undertaken during their tenure.
He emphasized that the Students' Council acts as a coordinating body, fostering collaboration between the students and the management. He encouraged the council to adopt a spirit of personal commitment, using the phrase “I want to do” rather than “I should do”, highlighting the importance of initiative and ownership in leadership.
The Chief Guest, Dr Satish S., in his inaugural address, expressed his appreciation for the programmes he had witnessed at FMHMC, describing them as systematic, well-planned, and thoughtfully executed. He credited this accomplishment to the unwavering dedication of the Students’ Council, along with the able guidance of the teachers and the steadfast support of the management.
Dr Satish through inspiring story narrations emphasized the significance of embracing three core values that pave the way to success: The courage to step out of one’s comfort zone, the commitment to continuous skill development, and the perseverance to pursue goals without resorting to shortcuts.
Chief Guest Dr Satish S was presented with a memento as a token of gratitude by Rev Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI.
Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, in his Presidential address, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected Student Council office bearers and members. He also commended the achievements and contributions of the outgoing council members for their dedicated service.
Director emphasized the importance of teamwork within the Student Council, urging them to uphold the ethos and mission of the institution. He highlighted the council’s role as a vital bridge between the student body and the management, fostering peace, unity, and harmony within the campus community.
He reminded everyone that we all belong to one college family and stressed the need for open dialogue, which involves practicing effective communication skills. He also introduced the value of ‘synodality,’ meaning walking together in mutual respect and collaboration, and encouraged the council to nurture a spirit of peace and togetherness.
Ms Yazhini , General Secretary, Students’ Council proposed the vote of thanks.
Ms Kristal P Fernandes and Ms Asha D’Souza Compered the event gracefully and meticulously.
The programme concluded at 4.15 pm with the Institution Anthem.
