Participation of IV BHMS Students in the Walkathon for Nasha Mukth Bharat

Students of IV BHMS under the guidance of Department of Community Medicine actively participated in the Walkathon organized by the colleges of Dakshina Kannada, affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on 29.11.2025, aimed at promoting awareness on Organ Donation and Nasha Mukth Bharat. The Walkathon route extended from Mangala Stadium to Karavali Grounds via MCC and Lalbagh.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Mangala Stadium, where Dr. Bhagavan B. C., Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of RGUHS, welcomed the gathering. The Walkathon was formally flagged off by Shri U. T. Khader, Hon’ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Hon’ble Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Dakshina Kannada District Incharge and MP Shri Brijesh Chowta also addressed the participants, encouraging collective efforts toward a healthier society.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including MLA Dr. Bharat Shetty (Mangalore North), Police Commissioner Shri Sudheer Kumar Reddy, Shri Manjunath Bhandary, and heads of various healthcare institutions.

A total of 12,500 healthcare students took part in the Walkathon. From Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College 83 students of IV BHMS participated enthusiastically.

Dr. Sajan K. R., Head of the Department of Community Medicine, accompanied the students.
