Visit to Water Purification Plant, Thumbay

The III BHMS students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Mangaluru, visited the Water Purification Plant at Thumbay, Mangaluru, on 13/02/2026 and 14/02/2026 as part of their academic curriculum. A total of 68 students participated in the visit and were divided into two groups to facilitate better learning and observation.

During the visit, the students observed the various stages of water treatment, including the raw water lifting and pumping station, flocculation chamber, chemical treatment room, chlorination unit, and rapid sand filter beds. The Quality Control Engineer explained the entire water purification process and interacted with the students, providing detailed insights into treatment methods and quality assurance measures.

The visit was both informative and educational, enhancing the students’ understanding of water treatment processes and public health significance. Dr. Sajan K. R., HOD & Professor, Dr. Kashyap Suvarna, Associate Professor, and Dr. Shreya N. Padiyar accompanied the students during the visit.
