Visit to TB Hospital, Moodshedde

The Final Year BHMS students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Mangaluru, visited the TB Hospital at Moodshedde, Vamanjoor, on 18.02.2026 as part of their academic training. The objective of the visit was to understand the functioning of a dedicated tuberculosis care center and its role in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of TB patients.

On arrival, the students were welcomed by the hospital staff and briefed about the history and significance of the TB Hospital. They were then taken on a guided tour of the facilities, including the patient wards, outpatient department, and diagnostic laboratories. The students observed the infrastructure and cleanliness of the institution, designed to provide a safe and healing environment for patients.

The medical team explained the different stages of tuberculosis management, including diagnosis, treatment protocols, medication regimens, and follow-up procedures. Emphasis was laid on the importance of strict adherence to anti-tubercular therapy and the role of DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) in ensuring successful treatment outcomes.

Infection control measures were also highlighted, particularly the precautions taken to prevent transmission of TB among patients, healthcare workers, and visitors. The visit provided valuable clinical exposure and enhanced the students’ understanding of public health strategies in tuberculosis control.

Dr. Sajan K. R., Dr. Kashyap Suvarna, and Dr. Shreya N. Padiyar accompanied and guided the students during the visit.
