The IV BHMS students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College visited the Sewage Treatment Plant at Kavoor, Mangalore on 03.03.2026 as part of their academic learning.
During the visit, the students were able to observe various stages of sewage treatment including screening, grit chamber, primary sedimentation tank, secondary sedimentation tank, and sludge digester. The Quality Control Engineer at the plant provided a detailed explanation of the functioning of the treatment units and highlighted the importance and benefits of proper sewage treatment in maintaining environmental hygiene and public health.
For effective learning and better interaction, the entire batch of 78 students was divided into two groups. The visit offered the students practical exposure to wastewater treatment processes and enhanced their understanding of environmental sanitation.
