Overview

The department of Pathology and Microbiology established in the year 1986 imparts education in the subject of Pathology and Microbiology.

The Department has got the infrastructure and experienced staff bringing in innovative teaching methods to present the knowledge and provide a clear understanding in Pathology and microbiology.

The objective of the department is

  • To enable students to know the reaction of man to differentmorbid factors causing disease.
  • To discriminate symptoms of the patient & disease & substantiate miasmatic perspective with pathology for an accurate homoeopathic prescription.
  • To correlate subjective & objective symptoms with underlying pathology, interpret clinical symptoms & make them competent in diagnosis & management of disease to make a complete homoeopathic physician.

The department consists of separate HOD and staff room attached with the office room. Clinical laboratory of the hospital is attached to the department. All basic investigations are done here at minimum cost.

Pathology & Microbiology is taught for II BHMS students according to the syllabus prescribed by RGUHS, Bangalore. A total of 200 Theory classes and 70 hours of practical classes are taken for the students. Practical classes trains students in various Pathology & Microbiology exercises which include Haematology, Bacterial Staining, Urine and stool analysis etc.

The department is provided with a Laptop, Desktop and internet facility which makes students benefited by audiovisual method of teaching. At the end of the academic session, they appear for RGUHS examinations.

The department has 2 separate laboratories which are spacious, well lighted and ventilated. The laboratories can accommodate 25 students and are well equipped with sufficient specimens, equipments, instruments and other facilities as prescribed by CCH. Each lab has attached preparation room cum store room. Adequate water supply,electricity, LPG connection, fire extinguisher is also available The Demonstration room can accommodate about 35 students.

The department is currently facilitated with a museum where 184 specimens are arranged systemwise.70 laminated charts are displayed on the walls for quick reference.

A CME programme was conducted on “ Neoplasia” dealing with the pathological and surgical relation in understanding the disease process with Homoeopathic concepts in of August 2009.

Besides this the faculty also attend Medical camps whenever recruited

Hospital clinical laboratory attached to the department does all basic investigation procedures for the OPD & IPD patients.
