TRAINING FOR SCOUTS & GUIDES STUDENTS

The Department of Surgery organized a Training programme on First aid & Emergency care for the Scouts and Guides students of Nithyadar English Medium High School in the PG Seminar Hall of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.  The objectives of the session "preserve life, prevent further harm & promote recovery" were emphasized. Dr K John Paul & Dr Hafis Sherief of Department of Surgery & Dr Sooraj K V of Department of Medicine demonstrated the various first & immediate assistances and interventions given to a person who is injured or seriously ill before professional medical help arrives. They deliberated and demonstrated  on  dealing with major & minor bleeding, managing medical shock & epistaxis, binding a broken limb, treating a sprain, performing heimlich's maneuver, administering CPR, making an improvised stretcher, applying a roller bandage, communication and methods of carrying a casualty with a first aider and two first aiders. A total of 19 students from the school participated in the training programme. The training programme began at 10.00 AM & ended at 11.30 AM.
