MEDICAL HEALTH CAMP AT LORETTO CHURCH HALL, BANTWAL

On 14th of March, 2021, a free medical camp was organised at Our Lady of Loretto Church, Bantwal taluk by FMHMC. A team of 21 visited the church to organise the camp. Dr Amitha Baliga was the team leader and the other faculty members were Dr Reshel Noronha, Dr Shwetha Bhat and Dr Shainaz. There were 6 postgraduates, 9 interns and 2non teaching staff for the camp.

The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp followed by a short introduction by Dr Adlin ( PG student- Materia Medica department). After this the health check-up commenced. One intern and one PG was involved in registration of the cases. The other interns were involved in dispensing of medicines. One intern and Mrs Clara were conducting the lab tests. The post graduates students were involved in consultation. The team leader and faculty sat for consultation. Mrs Vidya ( non teaching staff) along with one intern were helping the patients avail the health card facilities of the Deralakatte and Kankanady hospitals.A total of 126 patients attended the camp. Out of them 109 were adults and 17 were children. Out of 109 adults, 58 were males and 51 were females. Out of 17 children 10 were males and 7 were females. Among the adults, majority of the cases were of Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Hypothyroidism, Osteoarthritis, Atopic dermatitis, Skin allergies and Migraine. Among the children skin allergies, upper respiratory tract infections, asthma, learning disabilities were the common ailments. 35 health cards were issued. 58 blood tests were done, out of which 10 were for Haemoglobin and 48 for random blood glucose. The camp concluded at 1pm.
