National Pathology Day 2025

The Department of Pathology, Father Muller Medical College, celebrated National Pathology Day on 12th April 2025, marking the birth anniversary of Dr Vasant Ramji Khanolkar. He was a renowned Indian pathologist and known as Father of Pathology and Medical Research in India.

The celebration was Attended by 120 people including faculty, laboratory technicians, post graduates and supporting staff of the department. The event aimed to acknowledge the pivotal role of Pathology in medical science and it engaged students and faculty across disciplines in creative competitions.

Program Highlights:

The celebration began with an invocation, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Umashankar T, Organizing Chairperson and Head of the Department of Pathology.

This was followed by a brief insightful note by Dr. Chandni Bhandary P, Organizing Secretary and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology, who spoke about how National Pathology Day came to be.

In a special segment titled 'A Glimpse Through the Lens' an innovative inauguration was observed using a symbolic microscope and projection of microscopic imagery. The  guest speaker of the event was Dr. Sudeep K., Professor, Department of Endocrinology who shed light on the interdisciplinary relevance of pathology in clinical diagnosis. He emphasized the importance of lab medicine in routine practice.

The program included various competitions such as reel making, model making, and photography, which saw enthusiastic participation across disciplines. These events showcased the creativity, knowledge, and spirit of collaboration among students, staff, and faculty.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sueallen Lorna D’Souza, Treasurer and Senior Resident, Department of Pathology, followed by the institutional anthem.
