A session on ‘Utility of Research Laboratory Services at FMRC for Student Research Projects’ was organized on 1st September 2025 at 1.30 pm in the Father Muller Auditorium. This session was organized for the I, II, and IV BHMS Junior students to familiarize them with the available research facilities and to encourage active participation in scientific projects.
Dr. Shivashankara A R, Principal, Father Muller Allied Health Sciences College, Thumbay, and Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Father Muller Medical College was the resource person. Dr Shivashankara highlighted the wide scope of laboratory services in aiding research projects, explained the functioning of FMRC, and emphasized the importance of scientific inquiry and evidence-based practice in healthcare. He also spoke about the different facilities available at FMRC and guided students on whom to contact for initiating their studies. He further encouraged students to take up research activities and make the best use of institutional support.
The session commenced with introductory remarks by Dr. E. S. J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital along with welcome address. He also underlined the significance of research exposure at the undergraduate level.
At the end of the session, Dr Shreyank S Kotian, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, delivered the concluding remarks, appreciating the informative deliberation and encouraging students to utilize the research opportunities provided by FMRC.
Members of the Research and Scientific Committee were present and actively supported the conduct of the event. The program concluded with an interactive session, where faculty members and students engaged in a lively discussion with the resource person, seeking clarifications and guidance on research methodology and laboratory utilization.
Overall, the session attempted in motivating students towards research-oriented learning and in strengthening the academic and scientific environment of the institution.
