Prevention of accidents among children : Health Education

On observance of World Patient Safety Day, the Department of Child Health Nursing, in collaboration with III BSc Nursing students, organized a health education on the prevention of accidents among children on 19 September 2025 at K ward, Father Muller Medical College Hospital.

The programme held under the guidance of Professor Wilma Shalini Noronha and Ms. Rosemary C Assistant Professor. The event was commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome to the parents. The session was covered with the topics first aid, home care

management and preventive aspects of various types of accidents burns, falls, drowning, choking, poisoning, dog bite, road traffic accidents in children. Awareness was created through role play, power point presentation, videos and demonstration.

A total of 21 beneficiaries (mothers and children) attended. the program was supported by Thirty-Three Nursing students, Nine departmental faculty members and three ward staffs. Games were also conducted for children, and winners received prizes. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks at11.45 am.
