Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay, in collaboration with Father Muller College of Nursing, Kankanady, organized a three-day Small Group Teaching (SGT) program on Research Methodology from 4th to 6th December 2025. The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony, with Dr. Shivshankara A.R., Principal-cum-Professor, Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences, Kankanady, serving as the Chief Guest. The occasion was graced by Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator, FMNCT; Rev. Sr. Dhanya Devasia, Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing, Kankanady; Dr. Reena Wilma Frank, Principal, FMNCT and Organizing Chairperson; Mrs. Janet Sequeira, Vice Principal, FMNCT; and Dr. Padmakumar S., Organizing Secretary.
The resource persons for the program included Dr. Shycil, Mrs. Precilla, Mrs. Priya, Dr. Kaini, Dr. Sandra, Dr. Sonia Liz K., Sr. Anjana, Mrs. Shanti Priya, Mrs. Juby J., Dr. Agnes E. J., Mrs. Remyashree S., Dr. Devina E. R., Dr. Josmitha D., Mr. Ashwin B., and Mrs. Laveena R.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics, including Introduction to Research & Key Terminologies, Formulation of a Research Problem, Title and Objectives, Understanding Variables & Operational Definitions, Hypothesis and Assumptions, Literature Review (Purpose, Sources & Search Strategies), Research Approaches, Experimental Research Design, Non-Experimental Research Design, Qualitative Research Design, Methods and Tools of Data Collection, Validity and Reliability of Research Tools, Data Entry Basics using Excel/SPSS, and Referencing Styles & Avoiding Plagiarism. After each session, Peer Group Discussions and Concept Reinforcement activities were conducted. At the end of each day, an online quiz was administered to evaluate the effectiveness of the sessions.
A final mega quiz on Research Methodology was conducted on 6th December at 2:30 pm, coordinated by Dr. Padmakumar S. The winners of the quiz were awarded prizes by Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, who also addressed and motivated the students. Feedback was collected both online and verbally, and students expressed that the SGT sessions were highly informative, interactive, and an excellent learning experience.
