ULLAL BEACH CLEANING DRIVE

The Coastal Development Board, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS), Deralakatte, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, organised a Beach Cleaning Drive at Ullal Beach on 6th December 2025 (Saturday). The event was held in association with Clean Oceans and aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, marine conservation, and public awareness on sustainable waste management practices.

The programme commenced at 6:00 AM and continued until 9:00 AM. Although Shri UT Khader, Hon’ble Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and MLA, Mangaluru Constituency, was unable to attend the event in person, he conveyed his best wishes and expressed full support for the success of the programme. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of the following dignitaries:

  • Shri MA Gaffoor, Hon’ble Chairman, Coastal Development Board, Govt. of Karnataka
  • Shri Pradeep D’Souza, Secretary, Coastal Development Board, Govt. of Karnataka
  • Shri Theja Murthy, Commissioner, Ullal City Council
  • The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Faustin Lucas Lobo, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangaluru. The dignitaries highlighted the importance of maintaining coastal hygiene and encouraged students to actively participate in environmental protection activities.

    From Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS), a total of 38 enthusiastic students and 3 staff coordinators took part in the beach cleaning drive. The students diligently engaged in collecting plastic waste, segregating recyclable materials, clearing debris, and assisting in the overall cleaning process along the shoreline. Their active involvement demonstrated responsibility, teamwork, and commitment towards environmental well-being.

      The event concluded with a message of gratitude to all participants and collaborators. The Beach Cleaning Drive served as an enriching experience for students, encouraging them to adopt eco-friendly habits and contribute positively to society.
