A one-day General Health Check-up Camp was successfully organized at the District Prison, Mangaluru, on Friday, 16 January 2026, from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m., with the objective of promoting health awareness and providing essential medical services to the inmates.
The camp was organized under the leadership of Mr. Donald Coutinho, Camp Organizer, and coordinated by Dr. Shycil Mathew, Camp Coordinator. The medical team comprised doctors from the Departments of General Medicine and Dermatology, supported by nursing personnel, interns, and technical staff.
The programme commenced with an address by the District Jail Superintendent, Mr. Sharana Basappa, who emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the medical team in extending healthcare services to the prison inmates. Dr. Shycil Mathew, Camp Coordinator, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and holistic well-being.
A total of 148 beneficiaries availed the services during the camp, receiving medical consultations, basic investigations, and appropriate health guidance. The initiative was well received and appreciated by the prison authorities, reflecting a strong commitment towards ensuring accessible and comprehensive healthcare for the inmate population.
