As a part of PHARMAVERSE 2025–26, Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS), Deralakatte, organized Freshers’ Day – Parichay 2K25 on January 22, 2026, with the objective of warmly welcoming the newly admitted students and fostering a sense of belonging, unity and institutional pride.
The programme commenced with an inaugural ceremony, beginning with a graceful prayer dance by the 2nd year B.Pharm students, invoking divine blessings for the success of the event. The programme was efficiently compered by Ms. Zohara and Ms. Mahsooka, 2nd year B.Pharm students, who guided the proceedings with confidence and poise.
Dr. Satish S, Principal, FMCOPS, along with the Cultural Coordinator, Mrs. Fmith Celvia Miranda, ceremonially escorted the esteemed dignitaries to the dais. The dignitaries for the occasion included Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Kankanady, who presided over the programme; Dr. A. Kiran Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay, as the Chief Guest; and Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC and FMCOPS.
The gathering was formally welcomed by Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, following which Ms. Aysha Saleem Sheik, from 3rd Semester B.Pharm, delivered the Welcome Address, extending a cordial greeting to the dignitaries, faculty members and students.
The traditional lighting of the lamp was carried out by the dignitaries, symbolizing the triumph of knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by the Chief Guest’s address by Dr. A. Kiran Shetty, who highlighted the importance of leadership, ethics and professionalism in healthcare. He emphasized understanding drug action, lifelong learning, good laboratory practices and effective communication skills. He also outlined the wide career opportunities in pharmacy and stressed the vital role of pharmacists in ensuring patient safety, concluding that effective healthcare delivery depends on strong collaboration between doctors and pharmacists.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, who reminded the freshers that they were now an integral part of the Mullerian family. He highlighted the importance of understanding and respecting institutional culture, values and diversity. He encouraged students to embrace value-based leadership rooted in love, friendship, mutual respect and coexistence, urging them to live by the principle of “Live and let live” and to grow into responsible professionals guided by strong ethical values.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Riya Monteiro, from 3rd Semester B.Pharm, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, management, faculty members, organizers and students for their contributions to the success of the event. The ceremony concluded with the Institutional Anthem, marking the formal end of the inaugural session.
Following the formal session, Parichay 2K25 transitioned into a lively celebration with fun-filled games and cultural programmes that created an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie.
The event reached its peak with the much-anticipated ramp walk and Mr. & Ms. Fresher contest, where Mr. Marius Basumatary and Miss Evita D’Souza were crowned for their confidence, charisma and vibrant stage presence, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
The inaugural ceremony of Freshers’ Day – Parichay 2K25 set a positive and inspiring tone for the celebrations under PHARMAVERSE 2025–26 and served as a meaningful platform to welcome the new batch into the academic and cultural ethos of FMCOPS.
