As part of AYUSH Habba 2026, organized by the Ministry of AYUSH and the Government of Karnataka, the Department of Paediatrics, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital (FMHMC) successfully organized Makkala Habba 2026 on 31 January and 1 February 2026 at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mangaluru. The event was conceived as an open platform for children to showcase their talents while promoting holistic child health through games, entertainment activities, health screening, and blood investigations.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr H. R. Nagendra, Chancellor, S-VYASA University, Bengaluru, in the august presence of Dr Asha Jyothi, President, AYUSH Habba; Dr Sachin Nadka, Organizing Secretary; and Dr Mohammed Iqbal, District AYUSH Officer, Dakshina Kannada. The inaugural session highlighted the importance of nurturing children’s health through integrative and preventive approaches.
Over the two days, 221 children were registered for the event, with 168 children actively participating in various competitions and 52 beneficiaries availing blood investigations including blood grouping and haemoglobin estimation. The enthusiastic participation reflected the wide acceptance and reach of the programme.
Various competitions such as the Healthy Baby Competition, Fancy Dress, Drawing Competition, Junior Chef Competition, and Talent Show were conducted across age groups, providing children with opportunities to express creativity, confidence, and skills. All winners were awarded mementos, certificates, and cash prizes, while all participants received certificates of participation.
All registered children were provided medicine kits sponsored by the Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division. The prize distribution was conducted during the AYUSH Habba Valedictory Function by Dr Mohan Birarder, President, AFI Karnataka, under the convenership of Dr Ancy George, Assistant Professor, Department of Paediatrics, with the dedicated support of faculty members, postgraduates, and interns of FMHMC.
Overall, Makkala Habba 2026 was a grand success, fostering creativity, confidence, and awareness of child health, while aligning with the holistic vision of AYUSH. The event received overwhelming appreciation from children, parents, and dignitaries alike.
