A One-Day National Seminar titled “QUEST 2026 – Autopsy, Ethics and Law: An Interdisciplinary Approach for AYUSH Health Professionals” was organized by the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, on 8th February 2026 at the college auditorium.
The seminar commenced with registration from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, followed by the inaugural function from 9:30 am to 10:15 am. The programme was inaugurated in the august presence of Dr. Jagadish Rao, Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The seminar was presided over by Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta, Administrator, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Deralakatte. Assistant Administrator FMHMC- Rev. Fr Ashwin L. Crasta, Principal ,FMHMC- Dr E.S.J Prabhu Kiran, Vice Principal FMHMC- Dr Vilma Meera Dsouza, Organizing Secretory ,HOD and Associate professor Dept of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, FMHMC- Dr Indu O S were also present. All colleges with corresponding representatives were facilitated with certificate of participation by the dignitaries.
Session I was held from 10:15 am to 11:30 am on the topic “Autopsy – Contemporary Perspectives and Practical Insights” and was delivered by Dr. Jagadish Rao. The session provided valuable insights into modern autopsy practices, medico-legal relevance, and practical challenges faced in forensic investigations.
After a tea break from 11:30 am to 11:45 am, Session II was conducted from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm on “Legislation Relevant to AYUSH” by Adv. Meghna R. Anand, Assistant Professor, SDM Law College, Mangaluru. The session highlighted important legal provisions, professional responsibilities, and medico-legal issues pertinent to AYUSH practitioners.
Following the lunch break from 01:00 pm to 01:45 pm, Session III, an Open Forum on Forensic Science and Toxicology, was conducted from 01:45 pm to 04:15 pm. The theme of the session was “Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Forensic Science, Toxicology, Pharmacy, Medicine, and AYUSH”. The session was moderated by Dr. Hareesh Gouda, HoD, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, FMMC and Dr. Indu O. S , HoD, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, FMHMC .The open forum encouraged interactive discussions and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas among practitioners, faculty ,UG and PG students.
The moderators presented the conclusion of the open forum summarizing key learning points and outcomes of the discussions and facilitated participants of open forum with certificates . The academic programme concluded with a Quiz Competition for Delegates from 4:15 pm to 4:40 pm followed by cash prize distribution for the first 3 places (1st prize 2500, 2nd prize 1500 and 3rd prize 1000)
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, and practitioners from various AYUSH disciplines. Overall, QUEST 2026 was a resounding success and effectively achieved its objective of integrating forensic medicine, ethics, and law to enhance medico-legal competence among AYUSH health professionals.
