The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, FMMCH successfully conducted a workshop titled
“Workshop For Medicolegal Expert Opinion” on 19th April 2026 in association with Association of Medical Consultants, Mangalore.
The day began at 9:00AM with a session 1 by of our esteemed faculties Dr. Yogendra Malik , Prof. of Forensic medicine, Sonipat , Haryana enlightening us on “ Need for training of doctors in providing expert opinion” and Dr. Suresh Bada Math, Prof. of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore speaking about the “ Medical Negligence”
The Master of Ceremony (MC) for the inaugural program was carried out by Dr. R.V.L. MANASA, 1st year MCh resident of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The inaugural program commenced at 11:00 AM with a prayer song . This was followed by a welcome address by Dr. Satish Bhat, Prof. of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, FMMCH.
The Lamp Lighting Ceremony was jointly carried out by all the dignitaries marking the official opening of the event.

The program was carried ahead by an insightful address by our Hon’able chief guest Dr. Thimmiah R, District Health Officer, Mangalore and followed by inspiring presidential address by Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions. Their words were a source of encouragement and appreciation for the efforts of AMC and the department’s dedication for arranging this workshop and is the 1st such workshop in Karnataka state.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Aravind L Rao, HOD and Prof. of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, FMMCH. Followed by the Institutional Anthem and high tea was served to all guests and participants after the program.
Following the inaugural program, Session 2 began at 11:45AM, continued by Dr. Suresh Bada Math, Prof. of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore.
This informative session was further enriched by Dr. Sumit Rana, Prof. Of Psychiatry, LHMC, New Delhi and Dr. Veena Vaswani, Prof. of Forensic Medicine, YMC, Mangalore, who shared additional clinical insights focused on different topics of medicolegal cases like “ Format of Medical Expert Opinion” and “Avoiding Bias in drafting Expert Opinion” respectively, which continued after the lunch.
Post lunch session also included detailed interactive discussions and concluded with tea at 5PM.
The entire event was beautifully personalized— tokens of gratitude presented to our Hon’able chief guests by the respected Director , healthy interactive sessions between the audience and the speakers, delicious lunch and a small group photo session at the end of the workshop, and a day filled with inspiration, knowledge and meaningful learning.
