The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Father Muller College of Nursing Thumbay, observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 at 3:00 PM with the theme of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging collective action towards environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The programme commenced with an invocation song, invoking blessings for the successful conduct of the event. The dignitaries present included Administrator Rev. Fr. Rohan Michael Dias Principal Dr. Reena Wilma Frank, Vice Principal Mrs. Janet Sequeira, Chaplin Rev. Fr Vinod Lobo NSS Officer Dr. Edveena Philip Monis, faculty members, students, NSS volunteers, and SNA members.
The significance of World Environment Day was presented by Ms. Livya Menezes, who highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and the responsibility of every individual in protecting natural resources. As a token of appreciation,
Rev. Fr. Rohan Michael Dias addressed the gathering and urged students and staff to support the institution's commitment to maintaining a clean and plastic-free campus. Rev. Fr. Vinod Lobo further inspired the audience to actively participate in environmental conservation and contribute towards building a greener future.
A sapling plantation drive was conducted in the hospital premises with the participation of dignitaries, faculty members, the Hospital Nursing Superintendent, student representatives, NSS volunteers, and SNA members. The activity symbolized a collective commitment towards environmental sustainability and ecological responsibility.

The celebration concluded successfully with a renewed commitment towards environmental protection, sustainable living, and community participation. The programme created awareness among students and motivated them to become responsible custodians of the environment.
