Health Awareness Program on Immunization

The Department of Community Health Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing, in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a health awareness program on immunization at the Community Health Centre, Vitla, on April 09, 2025. The program, conducted by third-year BSc Nursing students, aimed to educate the mothers of under-five children, their families, pregnant mothers, Asha workers, and CHC staff on the importance of immunisation. Engaging skits, health education sessions, and audio-visual aids effectively conveyed the message. To facilitate easy understanding, health education was delivered in Kannada.

The program was graced by the presence of Dr. Vedavathi, the administrative Medical Officer, and Mr. Karunakar Gowda, President of Town Panchayat Vitla, Mrs Kusuma, Senior Health Inspecting Officer, Mrs Indira Nayak, Senior Primary Health Care Officer, Mrs Meera and Mrs Asma, Members of Agogya Raksha Samithi. On behalf of World Health Day, an oath-taking ceremony was conducted, where participants pledged to prioritize their health and well-being. Ms. Sharon and             Ms. Sherin compared the programs, Mr Sushanth welcomed the Gathering and Ms Sneha proposed a vote of thanks.

The program was coordinated by Mrs. Deepika N C, Assistant Professor, Mrs. Caroline Smitha, Assistant Lecturer, Department of Community Health Nursing and Mr. Abin Kuriakose NSS Coordinator. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 attendees, including mothers of under-five children, their families, pregnant mothers, Asha workers, and PHC staff. The program received appreciation from Medical Officers and CHC staff, who acknowledged the efforts of the nursing students in promoting immunization awareness.
