A Mass Health Education Programme and Nutri Expo: 2025

The Department of Community Health Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing, in collaboration with II PB B.Sc. Nursing students (Batch of 2024–25), successfully organized a Mass Health Education Programme and Nutri Expo: 2025 at D.K.J.M.P School, Pudu, on 26th July 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Themed “Young Minds, Bright Future”, the event aimed to create awareness among school children on crucial topics such as Menstrual Hygiene, Digital Discipline, and Substance-Free Living. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, school staff, and community members.

The programme was skilfully compered by Ms. Helvisha, a second-year Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing student. The event began with a soulful invocation, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Sr. Josifin.

The inauguration took place in the esteemed presence of Mrs. Yamuna, Headmistress of DKJMP School; Rev. Sr. Dhanya Devasia, Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing; Mr. UmmanFarroq, President of Today’s Foundation and member of the Jilla Panchayat, Pudu; Dr. Shiji P.J., Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing; and Dr. Shycil Mathew, Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor at FMCON. Four members of the Pudu Gram Panchayat also graced the event with their presence.

The event was witnessed by over 200 school students, six faculty members from Father Muller College of Nursing, and other faculties of DKJMP school Pudu. The Presidential and Principal addresses emphasized the importance of empowering young minds and promoting preventive health education.

Mr. UmmanFarroq, President of Today’s Foundation, appreciated the initiative taken by the college and commended the students for their enthusiasm and dedication.

The highlight of the programme was a vibrant and educational role play presented by the nursing students, creatively conveying health messages centred around adolescent health. This was followed by health awareness talks addressing common issues faced by adolescents and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The Nutri Expo 2025 featured an impressive display of nutrition models, charts, and interactive booths that emphasized the significance of balanced diets and the use of locally available nutritious foods.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Dhanushree, a second-year Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing student, who acknowledged the efforts of the students, faculty, school authorities, and all participants. Refreshments were served to all attendees.

Dr. Shycil Mathew served as the Programme Coordinator, with Dr. Devina Rodrigues as the Co-Coordinator, ensuring the smooth execution of the day’s events.
