A one-day General Health Check-up and Cancer Screening Awareness Camp was successfully organized on Sunday, 6th July 2025, at Permude Panchayat Hall, Mangaluru. The event was a collaborative initiative by Father Muller Medical College Hospital, MRPL, Permude Grama Panchayat, and the Indian Cancer Society.The camp offered a variety of free medical services to the local community, includingPap Smear Tests by the Department of OBG, Breast Examinations by the Department of General Surgery, Oral Examinations by the Departments of Surgical Oncology, Dermatology, and ENT, ECG Testing and GRBS Checking and Dispensing of Free Medicines. An informative public awareness session on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment was delivered by Dr. Elroy Saldanha, Surgical Oncologist from Father Muller Medical College Hospital.The camp was effectively coordinated by Ms. Deepika N C, Assistant Professor from the Department of Community Health Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON). Additionally, three fourth-year BSc Nursing students from FMCON actively participated in the camp, assisting in registration and distribution of free medicines.A total of 72 individuals from the local community availed of the services and health education provided during the camp. The program successfully promoted awareness about health and cancer screening, highlighting the significance of early detection and preventive healthcare.
