The department of Child Health Nursing along with students of I and II year MSc Nursing organized one-day workshop for the students of V semester BSc Nursing on the topic “Pediatric Airway Management” on 27.05.2026 between 8.30am and 4.30pm. The main objective of the workshop was to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in pediatric airway emergencies and management techniques. Sr (Prof) Dr Dhanya Devasia, Principal, FMCON inaugurated the workshop and delivered motivational speech to the faculty and students.
The workshop included both theoretical input and hands-on skill demonstrations. The resource faculty were Dr Sandra Saldanha, Prof. Wilma Noronha, Prof. Helen Claret Dsouza, Prof. Leena Castelino, Mr Manoj PS, Sr Anjana Rose, Ms Rosemary CJ, Ms Preema Pinto, Dr Josmitha Dsouza and Sr Lavita Dias. Various airway management procedures were demonstrated and practiced by the students under their supervision. The skills covered during the workshop included basic airway devices, airway adjuncts, laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion, endotracheal intubation, cricothyroidotomy, choking management, and airway manoeuvres. The session was highly informative and interactive, providing valuable learning experiences for all participants. The workshop concluded successfully with positive feedback from the students and faculty members. A total of 94 students benefited from the workshop.
