A one-day general health checkup and cancer screening
awareness camp was organized at Holy Family Sabha Bhavan, Meramajal, Omzooron Sunday,03/11/2024
between 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The camp team comprised of medical professionals representing
various specialties from the departments of General Medicine, General Surgery, Special
Oncology, OBG, Radiation Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Speech & Hearing
along with hospital laboratory and nursing personnel. The event commenced with a
brief inaugural ceremony, followed by an insightful awareness talk on cancer delivered
by an Oncologist, discussing potential harmful causes and highlighting key warning
signs that should not be overlooked.
A total of 19 persons benefitted from speech and
hearing services (Audiology–18, Speech–1). The Speech and Hearing team included
Ms Lakshmi S. Kunnath (Speech Language Pathologist – Gade I) and Ms Viona
DSouza (Audiologist – Grade I). Each patient underwent case history documentation,
otoscopic examination, screening audiometry, speech and language evaluation and
counseling. Those who did not pass the hearing screening or were suspected to
have a speech disorder were provided with camp referral cards and were advised
to seek comprehensive diagnostic testing at Father Muller Charitable
Institutions at concessional rates.
