LAMP LIGHTING & OATH TAKING CEREMONY

The Lamp lighting and Oath taking ceremony of 1 st batch of B.Sc. Nursing students of Father Muller Nursing College, Thumbay was held on 26-11-2022 at 3.00pm in Mini Hall, Convention Centre, FMCI, Kankanady along with the Ist year students of FMCON and FMSON.

The Programme started with a prayer song lead by senior students of FMCON. Mrs.Pathima Violet, HOD, Fundamentals of Nursing Department welcomed the dignitaries and gathering. The dignitaries on the dais were Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI, Chief guest Dr. (Prof) Fatima DSilva, Dean, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Deralakatte, Mangalore, Rev. Fr. Ajith Menezes, Administrator, FMMC, Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator, FMHT & FMNCT, Rev. Sr. Jacintha DSouza, Principal FMCON & FMSON and Rev. Sr.Dhanya Devasia, Princpal FMNCT.

Rev. Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, Asst Administrator, FMMCH, Rev Fr Rohan Michael Dias,  Asst Administrator, FMMCH, All chaplains, All Deans, Medical Superintendents, M.C. members, faculty, parents of students were present.

The dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional Indian lamp followed by garlanding the Portrait of Florence Nightingale (Founder of Modern nursing) as well as Fr. Augstus Muller.

The Principal, FMNCT, spoke on the significance of the lamp lighting. The most auspicious event, began with students lighting their lamps from the nursing leaders and spelling the oath administered by Principal, FMCON & FMSON which was followed by a song sung by students to express their joy and happiness Chief guest Dr. (Prof.) Fatima DSilva addressed the gathering. She stressed in her speech on key words for nurses like smile, kind word / touch, good listening /observer as well as being vigilant. Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho in his presidential address asked the student nurses to provide compassionate care to the patients and needy.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.Leena Tauro, the programme ended with Institutional Anthem. Refreshment was served for all. The programme was compered by Mrs. Sonia DSouza, first year B.Sc. Nursing Coordinator.

Prior to lamp lighting ceremony in the morning Thanksgiving Mass was offered at 8.0 am at FMHT Chapel by the Director Rev. Fr. Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho.
