“SAY NO TO DRUGS” WALKATHON

On October 18, Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay, participated in "Say No to Drugs" walkathon organized by the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore which aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The event sought to encourage young people to resist drug use and promote a healthier community. A total of 116 BSc Nursing students from Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay participated in the walkathon along with other units of FMCI and various colleges in Mangalore. The students were accompanied by faculty members - Dr. Edweena, Mrs. Jacintha Valder, Ms. Zimik, Ms. Siroslin, and Ms. Shefali. The event began with an engaging opening program that included a skit illustrating the impact of drug abuse, speeches from dignitaries, and a Zumba session to energize participants. Dr. Mona Mendonca served as the MC, guiding the program and maintaining a lively atmosphere. The walk commenced at St Aloysius grounds and concluded at Nehru Maidan, where participants energetically chanted anti-drug slogans, showcasing their commitment to discouraging drug use in their communities. During the concluding ceremony, Deputy Police Commissioner Siddharth Goyal administered an oath to the students, encouraging them to join hands in combating the menace of drugs and committing to work against drug abuse in their communities. This reinforced their dedication to promoting a healthier, drug-free lifestyle.
