FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Faculty Development Committee of Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay under the Leadership of Rev. Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo Administrator FMHT/FMNCT and Dr.Sr.Judy SIC Principal in collaboration with Medical Education Unit, FMMC organized a FDP on the Topic " Essential of Teaching Skills " on 23/12/2024, in Lecture Hall-1. The program commenced at 9am with a prayer song. Mrs.Janet Sequeira, Vice Principal, welcomed the gathering.
Rev.Fr.Sylvester Vincent Lobo Administrator of FMNCT, Dr. Nagesh KR convener of MEU FMMC along with other dignitaries symbolically inaugurated the Faculty Development Programme by lighting the lamp.
Dr Shivshankara AR, Professor Department of Biochemistry, FMMC and Principal FMCOAHS, Dr.Nagesh KR, Professor and Convener MEU, Father Muller Medical College, Dr.Smitha Bhat, Professor Department of General Medicine FMMCH, Dr.Varsha Shenoy, Professor of Anatomy, FMMC and Dr.Mangala S. Associate Professor of Pharmacology, FMMC of FMCI were the resource persons for the day.
The morning session was led by Dr Smitha Bhat who provided in-depth insights into How to take interactive lectures?.The next session was dealt by Dr-Mangala S delivered an insightful session on Innovative teaching Learning methods. Dr.Nagesh KR took a session on Effective use of media in teaching-learning.In the forenoon Dr Shivshankara AR,enligntened the participants with a topic promoting self directed learning.
In the afternoon once again Dr.Smitha Bhat took a session on Basic principles of assessment followed by framing questions:structured essay/short essay and MCQs elaborated by Dr.Varsha Shenoy.The last session for the day was Formative assessment taken by
Dr. Shivshankara AR wherein he challenged the participants to implement the same on students.After the sessions, the resource persons were presented with a certificate.
About 23 faculty from various colleges affiliated to FMCI were the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries gave positive feedback towards the session. The master of ceremony for the event was Mrs.Joyce Fernandes Assistant Professor,Department of Mental Health Nursing. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Edveena Monis,Associate Professor Community Health Nursing FMNCT. The session concluded with the Institutional anthem.The overwhelmingly positive feedback and impressive post-test results from the FDP reaffirm the tangible benefits gained by the teaching faculty.
