In observance of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, the Department of OBG Nursing successfully organized a community awareness program at PHC Pudu on 7th August 2025 at 10:30 AM. The event was conducted under this year’s global theme, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems,” aimed to educate the local community on the vital role of breastfeeding in maternal and child health.
The session focused on the significance of breastfeeding and the role of healthcare professionals in supporting lactating mothers. Key topics covered included the nutritional advantages of breast milk, the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, and the role of breastfeeding in strengthening the mother-child bond. Additionally, the segment addressed common challenges faced by nursing mothers and offered practical advice on how to overcome these obstacles. To make the session interactive and engaging, an interactive quiz was conducted for mothers attending the OPD, reinforcing key messages shared during the program.
The initiative was well-received by the attendees and proved to be an impactful step towards raising awareness and promoting breastfeeding in the community.
