TEACHERS’ DAY AND ONAM CELEBRATION

The Student Nurses Association of Father Muller Nursing College, Thumbay, organized a combined celebration of Teachers’ Day and Onam on 13th September 2025 in the Florence Nightingale Hall.

            The event began at 12:30 P.M. with a formal introduction highlighting the significance of the day by the Masters of Ceremony, Ms. Jasmine Sherly Moras and Ms. Maria Babu, followed by a prayer led by the 1st Year B.Sc. Nursing students.

            Ms. Joylin Riya D'Silva delivered the Welcome Address, after which Ms. Shania Jenica Pinto spoke on the Significance of Teachers’ Day. The 2nd Year B.Sc. Nursing students performed a wishing song dedicated to the teaching faculty.

            Fun games were conducted for the teachers of FMNCT and FMAHST, such as cup balance, longest paper strip, and musical chair, which witnessed enthusiastic participation. This was followed by a lively line dance for all teachers guided by students.

            A dance performance was then presented by the 2nd Year B.Sc. Nursing students in honor of the teachers. The program broke for lunch with a traditional Onam Sadhya.

            The Onam celebration began with the entry of Maveli, accompanied by an Onam recitation. A speech on the Significance of Onam was delivered, highlighting the values of unity, prosperity, and joy.

            A traditional Onam dance was then performed by the 2nd Year, 1st Year, and Allied Health Science students, followed by a traditional poem recitation by the 2nd Year B.Sc. Nursing students.

            Later all students were gathered in the basement for Onam games, including bottle filling, flour on the card, balloon blast, and tug of war, which added great excitement.

            After a completion of fun games all students were assembled near the entrance for the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners from both students and teachers were felicitated. Prizes were handed over to teachers by Dr. Sainu Saji and to students by the Principal of FMNCT Mrs. Reena Wilma Frank.

            The program concluded joyfully with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Venisha Castelino, followed by the National Anthem. The MC closed with remarks connecting both celebrations, emphasizing respect for teachers and the unity embodied in Onam. The event concluded with a national anthem at 4:40 P.M.
