WORLD DIABETES DAY CELEBRATION

The Department of Adult Health Nursing, IV Semester B.Sc. Nursing students, observed World Diabetes Day on 14.11.2025 based on the theme “Diabetes Across Life Stages.” The following activities were organized as part of the observance:

1. Poster Exhibition: Students were grouped into five teams, and each team created an informative and visually appealing poster focusing on various dimensions of diabetes. These posters were exhibited at Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay. 

2. Discussion on the Significance of World Diabetes Day: The importance of World Diabetes Day was reviewed and discussed with the students in the classroom, emphasizing the value of early detection, lifestyle modification, and preventive measures to reduce the burden of diabetes.

3. Health Education Programme: A structured health education session was conducted at 2:00 PM in the Ave Maria Ward, Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay. During the session, a total of 12 students elaborated on key topics such as: Warning signs of diabetes, Risk factors - Types of diabetes, Management and Preventive strategies. 

Various audio-visual aids were utilized to effectively communicate information to patients and the general public. The programme was attended by 25 participants, including patients’ relatives and housekeeping staff. The event was coordinated by Dr. Padmakumar (HOD), Mrs. Sushma Rodrigues, and other faculty members. The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative and provided encouraging feedback.

The observance of World Diabetes Day served as an enriching learning experience for the students while also creating meaningful awareness among the community. The activities successfully reinforced the significance of education, prevention, and collective effort in combating diabetes across all stages of life.
