CONSTITUTION DAY AND ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay, organized a combined observance of Constitution Day and an Organ Donation Awareness Programme on 29th November 2025 at 11:30 am, aiming to enlighten students about constitutional values and promote awareness of the noble act of organ donation.

The session began with an invocation led by 2nd semester B.Sc. Nursing students. A welcome speech was delivered by Ms. Sharal Galbao, who extended a heartfelt welcome to all the dignitaries: Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Administrator; Dr. Reena Wilma Frank, Principal; Dr Amith V L Dsouza; and Dr. Edveena Philip Monis, NSS Programme Officer.

The Constitution Preamble Pledge was led by Mrs. Cheryl Gonsalves, Assistant Lecturer, who highlighted the importance of observing Constitution Day. Poster compititon was held on the theme“Unity in Diversity”.

The Guest speaker, Dr Amith V.L. Dsouza, delivered an inspiring address centred on the theme of organ donation- “Life After Death.” He explained that organ donation is a selfless act through which one’s life continues to create hope even after death. He emphasized that donating organs is not merely a medical procedure but a profound gesture of humanity, compassion, and social responsibility. He also reminded the students about the significance of understanding the Indian Constitution and fulfilling their duties as responsible citizens. He encouraged the participants by providing organ donation cards, inspiring them to consider organ donation as a noble way of giving life after death.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Merrysa Fernandes, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, faculty members, organizers, and students for their active participation and cooperation. The event successfully fulfilled its purpose of educating, inspiring, and empowering the student community.

Mrs. Leona K.R. served as the Master of Ceremony, ensuring the smooth coordination of the entire event.

A total of 80 NSS volunteers , along with teaching faculty, actively participated in the programme
