Oto-rhino-laryngology is one of the earliest clinical departments of FMMC. The Department is adequately staffed with doctors specializing in different sub-specialities like otology, rhinology and head & neck oncology. Post graduation course DNB started in 1992, before undergraduate course MS & DLO in 2000. The intake was one Diploma and two MS per year. From 2020 onwards the intake is three MS Postgraduates per year.
There is a modern OPD setup with well-equipped stations and facilities to do nasal endoscopies and micro ear examinations. Specific disease-related clinics like vertigo and headache clinics are held on pre-specified days. There is a full-fledged audiology unit that ably supports the Department. The Department sees approximately 100-120 patients per day and conducts around 40-60 major and 150-250 minor procedures every month. Mastoid and other microscopic ear surgeries, endoscopic sinus surgeries and head and neck surgeries for benign and malignant diseases are routinely performed.
