Overview
Nursing Service Department is an integral entity of a healthcare organization which aims at satisfying the nursing needs of the patients and their families. Nursing was introduced to the hospital by the late Founder, Rev Fr Augustus Muller when he welcomed four nuns from the Sisters of Charity in January 1898. Since then the Nursing Service Department has expanded and extends its services to sick and suffering humanity.

Logo
The logo of the department depicts that nurses are charged with the spirit of Nightingale and engage in the healing ministry of Christ keeping in mind the motto of the institutions: Heal and Comfort.
Philosophy
The Hospital believes that every patient is a person with unique characteristics and has the need to be understood, accepted, respected, loved, and cared for, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and social status; thus providing care from womb to tomb, respecting the individuality of an ill person.
The Nursing Service Department of Father Muller Medical College Hospital recognizes that the primary purpose of nursing is to provide the highest quality of nursing care services and to give special attention to vulnerable groups like mother and child, geriatrics, alcoholics and those mentally ill.
We believe that quality nursing care is provided best by team work and maintaining a cordial relationship with all.
We believe that the lifelong learning, ongoing staff development programmes for staff nurses is essential to maintain and increase competence in nursing practice.
We believe that members of Nursing Service should exhibit not only professional skills but also an attitude and character upholding the dignity of person with humanness and compassion, for patients and their family.
In brief, the nursing service department of the hospital believes to administer high quality, cost effective care to patients and families, provide health promotion programmes to all people, maintain a supportive environment for education of professional nurses and promote career development of nursing employees.
