Panel discussion on Lactation

Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Child Health, and Community Health Nursing, FMCON, with Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics, FMMC, conducted a panel discussion on "Lactation" as part of World Breastfeeding Week 2025 on August 6, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rajath Bhavan, FMCON.The session started with a welcome speech and a prayer song, providing a peaceful atmosphere. The five panelists- Prof. Sr Dhanya Devasia, Prof. Sandra Saldanha, Dr. Alveera Dsouza, Mrs. Shanthi Vas, and Dr. Zohara Parveen-along with the moderator, Dr. Josmitha Dsouza, were welcomed warmly by Ms. Priya Pereira.

Discussion was on breastfeeding and lactation, including benefits of breastfeeds, universal problems of mothers, support mechanisms, and the role of the healthcare practitioners. The session was informative, interactive, and attended well.A quiz competition on breastfeeding provided an interesting learning experience, with prizes for winner. The event witnessed vigorous involvement of 40 staff nurses, and their responses were gathered. This activity contributed towards SDG goal 3-Good Health and Well -being.
