The FMCI Annual Faculty and Staff Sports Meet was inaugurated on 21 January 2026 at 5.00 pm with great enthusiasm and camaraderie. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator, FMMC/FMCOP/FMCAHS.

Rev. Fr Sylvester Lobo, Management Sports In-charge and Administrator, Father Muller Campus, Thumbay, led the dignitaries to the dais and warmly welcomed the gathering. The Sports Committee members present included Dr Kiran Shetty, Additional Medical Superintendent, FMMCH and Professor of Emergency Medicine; Dr Satish S, Principal, FMCOPS; Dr Prathvi Shetty, Professor of General Surgery; Dr Vinitha K, Associate Professor of Pharmacology; and Dr Prashasti P. Poovaiah, Head of Audiology, FMC.

In his address, Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and unity under the FMCI banner, where all four campuses come together as one. He emphasized that sports promote physical well-being, foster unity, and nurture a stronger work spirit, contributing to the effective functioning of the institutions.

Mr Chandrashekar, Physical Director, FMCI, showcased the medals and trophies for the event. The dignitaries symbolically inaugurated the games by cutting a volleyball on the court, followed by a ceremonial set game match.

With the declaration “Let the games begin,” FMCI set the stage for faculty and staff to compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition.

The Annual Faculty and Staff Sports Meet is being held in view of Founder’s Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Rev. Fr Augustus Muller SJ. The celebrations will culminate on 13 March with a grand cultural extravaganza presented by the faculty and staff. As a unique institution, Father Muller Charitable Institutions exemplifies a holistic approach where the entire programme is thoughtfully curated by the management in collaboration with the faculty and staff for the benefit of the whole student community. This collective effort beautifully showcases that work, sports, and cultural activities can go hand in hand, fostering unity, creativity, and a vibrant institutional spirit.
